The defense plan covers and protects
officers in three different areas,
Bids for the contract were placed throughout the United States in an attempt to
locate the legal organization that could best benefit the FOP and the
officers associated with our find organization. The firm of
"Hylant-Maclean, Inc., located in Toledo, Ohio, was awarded the contract
from the National FOP. The
service plan can be either purchased by agencies or by individuals and can be
either paid in full or bi-yearly. The plan cost ($200.00) for Group
participants or ($225.00) for Individual Participants.
NOTE: Each participant has the free and unrestricted right to employ the attorney
of his or her choice, subject to the terms and conditions set forth in the
Plan Description. Overview

administrative action or proceeding involving : Coverage
B - Civil Any
civil action or proceeding against a Participant arising out of the
activities of the Participant in the course and scope of employment as a
peace officer Coverage
C - Criminal Any
criminal action or proceeding against a Participant arising out of the
activities of that Participant in the course and scope of employment as a
peace officer. (*)
The phrase "in the course of employment as a peace officer"
includes activities of a Participant while on duty or technically off duty. Point
